REAson d’etre productions
imaginative, richly theatrical …A delight
— Glenn Sumi, Now Magazine

New dance-theatre by Kathleen Rea
with live music by Snowblink

In Long Live, a young woman stands in the spotlight alone, holding her late brother’s guitar, suspended at the edge of life, death, and love.Time shifts, and moments become living, connected memories of her family—the daughter (Suzanne Liska), her father (Tom Brouillette), her mother (Karen Kaeja), and her brother (Robert Halley)—as a young woman comes to terms with loss.

Visions and magical transformations of familiar objects illuminate what we experience in everyday family life. Family armchair becomes a station wagon driving along forest roads. Lost son is crowned with antlers. Laughing, irreverent, angels watch. A loyal pet dog, and a rainstorm of emotion —delirious joy, humour, anger, and affection. Delicate and raw body language and live music create a suspenseful and moving story. Audiences will see their own lives reflected in this rich, warm, deftly textured dance-theatre.

Long Live is a new work from Kathleen Rea, the creator of over 30 original works for various organizations, including , Ballet Jörgen Canada (BJC),Theatre Passe Muraille and Toronto Dance Theatre."The choreography is beautifully rich, poignant and lyrical."—Paula Citron, Classical 96.3 FM. Rea danced with BJC, National Ballet of Canada, and Tiroler Landestheater (Austria). Kathleen’s full-length ballet, The Velveteen Rabbit, was performed by BJC across North America. "The scenes were magical... all were pleased," said OrléansOnline.

The original score for Long Live is premiered live by Snowblink: "Songbird Daniela Gesundheit makes hushed and eerily gorgeous music...warbly, smoky, and delicate... Her sound... is as crisp as a clear morning after a blizzard"— Flavorpill SF. In Long Live Daniela sings to those she has lost and to the many whimsical inspirations that fill her day, accompanied by musician Dan Goldman. Read more about Snowblink online at www.snowblink.org
